Labia Reduction

About Labia Reduction

General Information : Labia reduction is a surgical procedure that reduces the size of a woman’s labia minora or majora (inner or outer vaginal lips).  Large or excessive labia can be embarrassing, and cause pain or discomfort in clothing or during exercise or intercourse.

Surgery to reduce the size of the labia can result in improved genital self image, increased self esteem, and eliminate a potential barrier to intimacy.

Procedure : This procedure is performed under a general anesthetic or spinal anesthesia to maintain your comfort.  Only the necessary fully trained and professional personnel are in the operating room during the procedure.

What to Expect from Atlanta Labia Reduction

Paces Plastic Surgery has been serving plastic surgery patients in Atlanta for more than 15 years. Our labia procedures are the finest you can find in Atlanta, Georgia and beyond. Many patients come to us from all over the world.

At Paces, we will use precise markings to remove only the excess tissue and create a pleasing aesthetic that is also fully functional.  A harmonic scalpel (based on ultrasound) is used to perform the operation. This instrument is gentle on tissue and causes less pain and swelling.  All stitching is absorbable, avoiding the need to remove sutures after surgery.

The caregivers of Paces do recommend that sexual intercourse be avoided for six weeks after surgery.

After care for labia reduction:  Care after labia reduction surgery is focused on comfort, minimizing swelling and optimizing healing.  Ice for the first 48 hours helps with swelling and discomfort.  The area is kept clean with basic hygienic care.  Antibiotic pills are used briefly for prophylaxis against infection and pain pills are used as needed.  There are no stitches to remove as they will dissolve on their own.
